HR on demand

Someone to call when an HR question gets complicated.

An employee is going on leave, and you’re unsure how to approach it. You’re considering letting someone go and want to talk through what you need to do.

HR on Demand gives you an experienced HR advisor to turn to when these questions come up. It’s for small businesses and nonprofits with occasional HR needs, whether you’re the founder, an executive, or the person handling HR along with your other responsibilities.

We talk through the problem.
You implement the solution.

HR on Demand is primarily an advisory relationship. You explain what’s happening, and we help you work through how to approach it and what to do next. You’ll often carry out the work within your organization, but depending on the issue, we may help with implementation too.

Advice from someone who knows your organization

We usually begin with an onboarding project. We discuss what your organization does, how it operates, your policies, how many employees you have, and where they work. We also discuss any issues you’re currently dealing with. That gives us a basis for advising you when you call us in the future.

You don’t need a current problem to put this relationship in place. Some clients want to know whom they’ll turn to before something comes up.

If you’re reaching out about an issue that needs attention now, we can discuss whether to begin with the onboarding or to address your current using the context you provide.

Getting help when you need it

Once we’re working together, you can email us or use a client booking page to choose an appointment length that fits your question.

Quick questions can usually be addressed in a same-day appointment, subject to availability. For longer conversations, same-day availability is more limited, with next-day appointments more readily available.

For email requests, we aim to respond within 24 hours, although travel can affect that timing. That first response may be an answer, an acknowledgment that we need to research the issue, or a discussion of when we can take on the work. The time needed to resolve it depends on the request.

How we scope and charge for work

We discuss the onboarding project and its fee with you during the consultation once we understand your business context better. Advisory support is then charged per issue as you need it. If an issue becomes more involved and needs additional time or research, we’ll discuss the expanded work and fee with you before completing any tasks.

Sometimes advice leads to a larger project that you may want Peale Piper to take on. If you need a policy written, for example, we can scope that as a separate project. If your HR needs become more frequent, we may recommend a light fractional HR relationship.

Let’s talk about what you need

Whether you have a question now or want an HR advisor in place for later, we can discuss how HR on Demand would work for your organization.
